The music of Darren M. Jahn

Bio

Darren M. Jahn is a husband, father, music maker, and business owner in Rogue River, Oregon. Darren and his wife, Kimberly, homeschool their two sons, Keaton and Benjamin, and own Main Building Supply, Inc., an Ace Hardware store, lumber yard, and feed dealer in downtown Rogue River.

In addition to his passion for open-back banjos, Darren enjoys playing guitar, fiddle, mandolin, accordion, bass, drums, and most recently, ukulele. Despite his interest in a wide variety of instruments, Darren’s focus for the last several years has been on writing and recording an album of original compositions for the open-back banjo.

I’ve always enjoyed playing music, and I love learning to play new instruments and new styles of music. Still, most of my musical life felt like a search. When I began playing Pat’s open-back banjos, I realized that I had finally found my voice.

To Darren, recording and producing music is almost as compelling as playing music. This passion led Darren to build a studio: CedarSmith Recording. Darren’s album, While I Have Being, was recorded and mixed at CedarSmith Recording.

Darren enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking in the hills of Rogue River, strategic business consulting, and designing websites. In addition to darrenjahn.com, Darren has built sites for Doc’s BanjosMain Building SupplyCedarSmith Recording, and others.
